So the claims and counter claims have begun. Blame apportioned, jobs
a good un. It’s all down to the mismanagement of the Club over the
years that we find ourselves in the position we are in now. Now that
us simple minded Coventry fans and the good people of the City have
been told, we can sleep easy in our beds at night knowing those who
could help have done all they can.
Well I for one am not buying it.
The most damning statement I have read in all of this seems to have
slipped by without even a second thought from the Sky Blue faithful.
The Tory council knew the Club would find themselves in the position
they’re in now and that was why they opposed the building of the
Arena.
Smug, self satisfying comment.
Well is that the case?
Let’s look at the facts shall we?
Coventry City Football receives a grant from the football
foundation.
Coventry City Council demands that it sits in Escro account just in
case CCFC don’t pay their rent.
Loan sharks waiting outside the Post Office to collect benefit books
spring to mind.
Partnership, good business or fulfilling their prophecy?
In 2006 Coventry City Football Club suggest to ACL a revised rent
deal. Instead of the £1 million a year.
Whilst in the Championship the Club pay £500’000 a year.
Once in the Premiership £1.5 million a year.
ACL’s response.
“If you do not pay in 14 days we will wind you up!”
Partnership, good business or fulfilling their prophecy?
Four small areas around the Ricoh where designated as no parking
zones around the Arena. After local residents groups expressed
concerns the area was expanded 10 fold and more some three months
before the start of the season.
Partnership, good business or fulfilling their prophecy?
The stadium signage. How long did the Club fight the Council to
install OUR Club badge outside the Ricoh? Paul Fletcher resorted to
acting like a thief in the night to tell the World the Ricoh was our
home before the Council relented. The Bloody Parrot is all over the
sodding place in a matter of days!
