Sky Blue skies in Cardiff saw the Iain Dowie Sky Blue road show roll
on. Most Coventry fans would have been happy with a draw prior to
this game so three points to take us back to the top of the
Championship was more than welcome. In what turned out to be an
horrendous journey for many of the traveling Sky Blue army, stuck
behind roadworks near Monmouth in a 5 mile tailback, Coventry showed
grit and determination to hold on to all three, well deserved
points.
Bar one mistake early on, Marcus Hall was immense at the
back mopping up anything that came his way. Jay Tabb ran himself
ragged for the cause and his goal was just reward for his efforts.
At times we looked suspect at the back which was understandable with
our makeshift defence and , with the exception of Gray, we looked
like we could have run all afternoon. No mean feat in the blistering
heat at Ninian Park. For me MotM was Konstantopoulos who pulled off
some terrific saves to keep us in front and then making himself big
for the penalty.
It looks like Dowies pre season fitness regime is paying off as,
once again, we looked the more dangerous in the second half, keeping
our shape and sticking to the game plan.
Then onto Brunton
park where the Sky Blues faced an in form Carlisle team for one of
those tricky little ties that we always seem to lose and the fans
get brought back down to earth with an almighty bump. Well it was
not to be with Mifsud scoring both goals in a thoroughly
professional two nil win.
It seems that the efforts of Iain Dowie and the Sky Blues have been
totally overlooked by the sporting press with very limited coverage
in the papers and television. Even our own I.C Coventry site have
this to say.
"Dowie made four changes from the side that nabbed a draw at Cardiff
on Saturday..." Nice one Andy Turner!
All this has, quite rightly, angered some City fans but while we
still have fans willing to court the media and join in with the
phone ins when requested why should the BBC, ITV and the Mirror
group etc change their policy. If we'd have lost you can bet your
bottom dollar that these same folk would either be answering calls
from our local media or bursting a gut to get on the numerous phone
ins that seem to have sprung up on radio over the past few years.
Then the "Carling Cup" programme on ITV on Tuesday night don't even
mention the City, absolute bloody disgrace! How about Coventry fans
refuse to take part in the phone ins or refuse to write articles
until the balance is redressed? Too much to ask of the lovies no
doubt.
Still worried about the amount of penalties we're giving away
