...and still unbeaten. For all the
negatives that one stat is a massive positive for the City fans.
Watching us this year is a big improvement on last season,
expectation rather than resignation. Disappointed with the result,
but it's football and I'm sure we'll see more games like we did on
Saturday against Hull and end up with a point or less.
For the first time in a long time the
excitement is coming back, the feeling that we can win any game in
this league. Dare I say it, we actually look pretty good. We can all
sit there after the game and criticise individuals or highlight a
moment of weakness in an area or a passage of play but weighing it
up, the 360 minutes of football that's been served up to us so far
this season is more than satisfactory. I'll save my criticism for
the fans on Saturday, or should I say the lack of them.
Barnsley was a great day out, the Sky
Blue army out on force, being treated to a festival of goals, the
players celebrating like loons with the fans when we scored, showing
US what winning means to THEM.
Roll on a week, strong rumours of a
takeover and future money for the transfer kitty, an exciting new
manager, top of the league, first Championship game of the season at
the Ricoh and what happens? Less than 20,000 Sky Blues fans turn up
to cheer them on. If we want to get back in the Premiership, where
we belong, we'll need a damn sight more than 20,000 home fans each
week.
What the hell does the
team, or for that matter, the Club have to do to put bums on seats.
The whingers were out in force pre season moaning about the price of
the friendlies, the Club ship in two top teams in Espanyol and
Udinese and we manage little over 7500 and 6200 respectively. It's
about time some of the City fans took a long hard look at themselves
and asked what is it they want?
If you want success, get off your
arses and get down to the Ricoh, support your team and cheer them
back into the Prem.
