One game and one win under the belt, a perfect start to the new
season. Goals from McKenzie, Kyle, Gray and Mifsud put all the
travelling fans into Sky Blue heaven and has left the Sky Blue
faithful wondering, could this be out year?
Certainly on
today's performance, we could be there or there abouts but the
winning post's a long long way away. Lots of positives to take away,
Gray looked useful, Osbourne has gained in stature and confidence,
Tabb proved to be a real handful setting up three of the goals. We
passed the ball around with confidence. The way the whole of the
squad celebrated the goals, they acted like a real team. Three goals
scored and Best and Mifsud still on the bench and hats off to the
travelling Skye Blue Army who capped a great day. I almost don't
want it to be as good as this because we all know, supporting the
Sky Blues shouldn't be like this, we've always a half empty glass
not a full one so let's get the negatives out, at least it'll bring
me down to earth.
The big worry in
the friendlies was how many penalties we'd given away and what
happens today? Thankfully the ref gave it for a shove else we would
have been down to ten men and the result could have been different
and just how good or poor Barnsley are is anyone guess. Kyle and
McKenzie worked well together at times but Kyle seemed out of sorts
on more than one occasion in the first half, jumping too early, a
couple of chances he headed straight to the goalkeeper. All too
often when he did nod the ball on, McKenzie was nowhere to be seen.
More work is needed in defence, a better team could have and
probably would have punished us. Ward didn't have a great game,
maybe playing with Hall in the middle and the new man Borrowdale
didn't help, I'm sure it'll take a little while to gel and once they
do, who knows...
Damn, there I go
